Some things of note:

1. I am really really tired.
2. It's my final hand in of the year on Monday. I still have shit loads to do. Still. I'm amazed that I've managed to get to the end of my second year at uni. It's taken me long enough.
3. I hate my wisdom tooth. It is pushing and I am hating.
4.I have a cup of tea.
5. MY DAD HAD THE TOP OF HIS LEFT INDEX FINGER BITTEN OFF BY A DOG. One of ours. Long story. An accident - dog is not vicious. Surgeons tried to reattach it but no luck. But yeah. Dad is now a bit stumpy. This is weird for me. I am going to make him a series of useful attachments to replace his finger. Including:

a) a fork - he's been having trouble using one without the tip of that finger.
b) a pirate's hook
c) a USB drive maybe if I can work out how/be buggered to
d) a little glowy LED thing like E.T which he can try to heal things with/get arrested for upsetting small children with
e) some other stuff? Help me think of good finger replacements?

Also I updated my blog a little while ago with a couple of prints. You might be interested. More up there soon though.

Oh god. I'd have to make him do "pewpewpew!" noises. Actually. He's a business guy and does a lot of meetings and presentations and things so that would be jolly useful one would think.

Dogs have got a super strong bite. I mean, they need to. If left to their own devices they eat bones, etc and a finger isn't very big. But still. WTF!?

And ow. Bansaws are mean bitches.

An accident? In that the dog mistook his finger for food?

No. It's a long story: We (or really I should say my parents, I don't really live there anymore) have four dogs. Three of which are related: we have a brother and a sister, and then a couple of years ago the sister had puppies; one boy one girl. We sold the boy, but couldn't find a home for the girl, so she stayed. It's been relatively peaceful until recently.

Some time about six months ago the mother and daughter started to fall out. Things went from bad to worse and within a couple of weeks they were trying to kill each other every time they saw one another.

Apparently this kind of family breakdown happens more often than you'd think. Parents decided to find a new home for the mother (she is more rehomable than the daughter ... less zippy, more sweet natured, plus she really doesn't do well with so many animals around. It doesn't seem fair on her.) and in the mean time just kept two shut doors between the two dogs at all times. So when one was in, the other would be in the garage, they slept at opposite ends of the house, etc.

Anyway. They found her a new home. She was getting all ready to go and for some reason someone leaves door open by mistake. Dogs start fighting. Dad tries to separate them - as he has been doing - but this time his hand slips and his finger goes into the mum dog's mouth whilst she's trying to attack the other one. And that's that ):

Epilogue: The people who are taking on the older dog are still going to have her as she was not being aggressive to another human and they don't have any other dogs. Minty (the mum) has always been fine with other animals, just her daughter.

It's all a bit sad really.

Wow, that's a bit crap. Sounds more like both female dogs need to be given training lessons, rather than rehoming. If your parents were the true 'alpha' of the pack then they would both listen to them and learn not to fight. That's what they need to be taught. You have to recognise who the top dog is of the dogs and treat them so. So, feed first, pet first, train first. It's not a democratic world in dog land.
I guess that may not always work but getting inbetween dogs fighting= BAD IDEA.

Sorry that's a v. serious reply. I hope your Dad's finger is ok. Ranulph Fiennes seems to get along without most of his fingers...

Bottle opener, screw-driver, a key - I have no idea what for, a toothbrush, nail file - you know - for the other remaining nine plus toes...

Will let you know if I think of any more. Nifty idea though.

I think he will appreciate it. I think he's a bit embarrassed about the whole thing, so making a joke of it I think will help. Poor bloke.
